I hope you're having a good day.

Stay at home

5 Siri

Lesson 1ではI'm sorry.

They're small stores that are set up quickly and which operate for a set span of time.

Scores of companies are coming up with ways to make cashiers redundant.

GACKT YouTube channel would make many kinds of teachers redundant.

★we've come a long way from, 私たちは...

We've come a long way from the time when vets usually advised having sick pets put down.

2019 L24 Book Clubs at Work

|
I hope you're having a good day.

Will Rogersの言葉 "A man only learns in two ways, one by reading and the other by association with smarter people."

Will Rogers

I can see how a book club could also nurture leadership and public speaking skills in the workforce.

Why your boss wants you to join Toastmasters
https://fortune.com/2015/07/22/toastmasters-public-speaking/

About one-third of the Fortune 500, including Apple (AAPL), AT&T (T), Exxon Mobil (XOM), Google (GOOG), Microsoft (MSFT), and Disney (DIS), now sponsor their own clubs.

★get someone's hackles up,

That's guaranteed to get people's hackles up.

page 14 真ん中あたりの、most people manage to behave as well as they do while they're on a planeの構文に悩みましたが、as well as they doがいつもと同じように、という意味なのですね。

It's a big change from when people who didn't stick with a job for a very long were castigated as quitters or flighty losers.

The newspaper was castigated by the other media for its fake news.

★lurk in the background,背後に潜んでいる

I think it's fair to say that people feel less loyalty to companies when the prospect of being replaced by a machine is always lurking in the background.

Another economic impact may lurk in the background.

★It can be taken too far.

So you're OK with millennial job-hoppers, right, Lidia?
Well, it can be taken too far.

What do you think about recent boom on English studying in adults?
Well, it can be taken too far.

★look askance at, ...

They look askance at applicants who have held several positions in a very short period of time.

My wife looks askance at me when I get a call from someone at home.

It can be very tempting to want to have the last word and leave in a blaze of self-righteous glory.

You're so self-righteous, huh?

No matter how unpleasant or toxic your work situation,はbe動詞が省略されていますね。
