I hope you're having a good day.

★be ashamed to admit,

I'm ashamed to admit that it had been some time since I gave blood.

I'm ashamed to admit that I was nervously jiggling my legs.

★take an emotional toll on, ...

A workplace where there's a poisonous, backstabbing atmosphere doesn't just take an emotional toll on the people who work there.

Failing to pass EIKEN takes an emotional toll on me.

★words to live by,

What a great quote - truly words to live by.

My words to live by is "One at a time."

To anyone who thinks this sounds sort and mushy, I would point out that it counts for a lot when it comes to attracting and retaining quality employees.

You failed to get a high score in TOEIC and are feeling down? How soft and mushy! Come on and join us in the EIKEN world.

★It pays to be kind.

That's why we task managers with paying attention to our worker's mental and physical condition. It pays to be kind.

It pays to study English.
I hope you're having a good day.

★pounding away at, ...

It was hard to concentrate on the presentation, because the guy sitting next to me was pounding away at his laptop as he was taking notes.

I pounded away at the door when I was forced to go out of the house.

★derail someone's train of thought,

A disruption of just a few seconds can derail your train of thought.

The guy sitting next to me was nervously jiggling his legs and it derailed my train of thought while I was taking EIKEN.

★the same holds true for, ...

It's not a leap to think that the same holds true for workplace conferences.

I enjoy my work. The same holds true for studying English.

★resist the siren call of, ...

I don't think most students - any of us, actually - have enough self-discipline to resist the siren call of the internet when we open our laptops or pick up our smartphones.

I can't resist the siren call of eating chocolate.

I think that kind of behavior is less consuming than surfing the internet in class - or during a business meeting.

I feel mysterious consuming emotion when I take EIKEN grade 1 test.

I have been studying English to this day.
