2019年度 第2回 英検1級の2次試験合格しました~

2次試験のスコアは過去最高の656(G1+3)~

今回は前日の勉強会でメンバが行ったスピーチを復習しました。するとズバリ「たばこ製品は禁止すべきか」のテーマが出たのでスピーチが成功(9点)しました。

Q&Aでは、たばこ税はどうするのか? →消費税を上げる。 糖は禁止すべきか → その通り。学校でのソーダの販売は禁止すべきだ(アメリカの話)。

などと、問題なく対応し、見事合格です。

1次試験2153点と合わせ、トータルで2809点で、初の2800点超え~

これで通算5回目の合格となります。10回は行きたいですね。

これも実践ビジネス英語のおかげです。

今回のテーマ、Working Remotely(遠隔勤務)ですが、私の会社でも積極的に推奨されており、いまや地球のどこで働いてもよいことになっています(本当です)。

私も、つい先日朝8時からの電話会議があったのですが、起きたらなんと7時50分! やべ、背中に汗たらーり状態でしたが、10分後には自宅からスマホで電話会議になんとか参加することができました。ロケーションフリーワーク万歳(ちがう)。


さあ12月も、ビジ英頑張っていきましょう。

★wanderlust, 放蕩願望、旅行熱

★homebody, 出不精の人、家にいるのが好きな人


I'm too much of a homebody to be a digital nomad.

★There's more to A than B, AにはB以上のもの[意味]がある

I should point out that there's more to being a digital nomad than gallivanting around the world or working in your pajamas - not that there's anything wrong with that.

★fritter away, ...を(少しずつ)浪費する

I'd probably fritter away my time watching old comedy clips or looking for the latest cricket results.

★potentially useful, 将来役立つかもしれない、潜在的に有用性のある

Some larger companies see them as a useful networking tool - a way to establish potentially useful connections with start-ups and entrepreneurs.

2019年度 第2回 実用英語技能検定、略して英検の2次試験を昨日受けました。

その前の1次試験では自己ベストの2153点をたたき出しました。今回は英作文の点数が人並みにできたのが勝因でした。

さて、2次試験ですが、何度も受けていると緊張もなく、準備もおざなりになってしまいます。

唯一、東京英検1級勉強会で2分間スピーチを2週に1本作り、勉強会で本番皿柄の即興スピーチの練習をしているくらいです。

ちょうど2次試験の前日にも勉強会がありまして、そこでのメンバのスピーチ原稿を翌日の本番に向けて一応復習しておいたのです。前日やったのが出て、しゃべれなかったら悲しいですからね。

すると、どうでしょう。まさにその中のテーマの一つが出たのです。

ラッキー。すらすらと論点が出てきました。合格、いただきました。

要はテーマの論点が思い出せるかが、2次スピーチ合格の分かれ道ということなのでしょう。

★overnight stay, 一泊の滞在

★selective, えり好みする、選択的な、精選する

People are becoming more selective about the kind of medical care they receive.

★work out of a central hub, 中央の拠点で働く

Telemedicine uses digital technology to allow doctors who work out of a central hub to monitor and oversee treatment of patients at intensive-care units in various locations.

work out of が ~で働くという意味なのですねー。

I work out of an office building.


★prove one's worth, 自分の価値を証明する、真価を発揮する

Microhospitals and telemedicine are already proving their worth in dealing with the steadily increasing demand for medical services in our aging society.

The new employee has already proved their worth just after three months they joined our company.
(theirはsingular theyです)


★what with, ...などの理由で、...やらで

In-house clinics make a lot of sense, what with the crushing load of healthcare costs that all too many people find themselves having t ordeal with.

I'm busy this weekend, what with taking TOEIC test and watching Rugby World Cup.
