singular theyとは、男女の区別をする必要がないとき、男女の区別がつかないときに、heやsheに代わってtheyが使われるというのがこれまでの用法でしたが、この度、男でも女でのない人、つまりnonbinaryの人にもtheyを使うという定義がMerriam-Webster辞典に載りました。（ https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/new-words-in-the-dictionary?nw2019 ）
そんなsingular theyも掲載されている杉田先生の新著「NHKラジオ実践ビジネス英語 現代アメリカを読み解く」を紹介します。
2019年9月に発売されたばかりのこの本は、実践ビジネス英語実践ビジネス英語の20年間のテキストのWord Watchコーナーで取り上げられた表現の総まとめとなっています。
450ページにわたりABC順に編集されており、みっちりと解説が詰まっています。ひとつひとつの解説にビニエットの例文が日本語訳とともに載せてあります。
20年前というと1999年ですね。私がビジ英を始めたころです。ぺらぺらとめくっていくと、おなじみの表現に再会できます。懐かしい表現、忘れていた表現。ビジ英の世界に浸れること間違いなし。
なにせ量があるので、この本を通しで読むには忍耐が必要に思われます。寝る前に一ページずつ読むようにしています。

このchoiceは形容詞なのです。辞書にも当然載って乗ますが、知りませんでした。基本語でありながら、形容詞では見聞きしたことがありません（が、これからはよく目につくようになるのでしょう）
