We want to make a positive difference in the lives of our customers.

An increasing number of companies have picked up on the idea of showing kindness to customers.

I admit we're not totally altruistic.

We raise brand awareness, foster greater consumer loyalty and promote better relations with our suppliers.

It has a pleasant ring it.

Why do some companies make a big deal out of having what they call a culture of kindness, while many others don't.

These days consumers place a premium on doing business with nice people.

In today's hyper-transparent world, pretty much everything a company does is out in the open and in plain view.

The problem is that kindness often gets short shrift in the workplace.

Here's a report that just crossed my desk.

American corporations spend $14 billion in corporate philanthropy.

Several factors are at play here.

Another is the rise in the number of non-profit.

They're prepared to pay a premium for goods and services provided by companies the give back to society.
