米国赴任44週目が終了。

Be More Productive (2)で、下から2行目のsuggestをビニエットではサグジェストって発音しているのに気づきました。杉田先生も解説の中でそう発音しています。

私がここカルフォルニアはサンタクララのアダルトスクールで通っていた発音のクラスで、suggestのggの発音について、最初のgはグで、次のgはジュとなる、ただし最初のgは発音されない場合もあり、その場合はサジェストとなる、と習いました。

自分もサジェストとこれまで発音してきましたが、今回初めてサグジェストと発音されている例に気づきました。

ということを「実践ビジネス英語を骨までしゃぶるfacebook部」に書いた所、グ、を入れるのは北米式と辞書に載っている、また、グを入れるのは正式、入れないのは一般的な発音であるということを教わりました。

ビジ英を今まで長い間聞いていますが、この発音には初めて気がつきました。先々週より始めた「英語のリスニング力が伸びない理由と確実に上達する7つのコツ」のせいでしょうか。
