米国赴任3週間目が終了。英語の上達は感じられません。サンタクララのAccent Reduction Trainingのサイトに登録したら会社に電話がかかってきました。忙しいときだったのでまた電話してと邪険に扱ってしまいましたがまたかかってくるでしょうか。
こちらの生活面はいろいろと仕組みが違うので戸惑うことが多いですが、すばらしいシステムとしては返品制度があります。私もTシャツをMとLサイズを買って、Lは大きすぎたので返品、パソコンショップでケーブルやアダプタを買ったけどパソコンとつないでもうまくいかなかったので返品、固定電話を買ったけどスピーカーフォンの音が小さくて電話会議に使いもにならないので返品、と3回使いました。これはすばらしい制度です。
ガレージセールにも行ってみました。日本人家庭が何組か合同で実施したもので、基本、子供服などが多いです。そんな中、電球が3個付いているフロアランプを10ドルでゲット。IKEAで買った電球1個のランプ（10ドル）よりもやはり明るいです。白い棚も無料でゲット。この棚は分割できて、分割した棚を横に並べるとなんとテレビ台に使えることが判明。無料でテレビ台ゲットです。あとはソファが欲しいです。
アパートに備え付けの洗濯機には糸ゴミを集めるフィルタがないので、洗濯しても糸ゴミが付いています。アパート近くにある100円ショップDIASOでフィルタを買わなくては。
来週はロンドンに出張です。うーん、イギリス英語はまたわからないのだろうなあ。

ところで、このビデオを見て気づいたことは、このレベルは聞き取れるようにならないとアメリカで仕事はできないなあということです。日本でサボっていたつけが来ています。
