今週から体調も復活し、今日も会社帰りにジムで走ってきました。
40分ほどで汗ぐっしょりになり終了です。

2. 英語に関するあれこれ

前々回に英語会議でアメリカ人の言うことが聞き取れないということをお話ししました。

その原因として考えられるのは、

(1)リスニング力が足りない

と、もう一つ、

(2)話している内容をそもそも理解していない

があります。

今まで(1)ばかり注目していましたが、もしかして原因は(2)かも?と思ってきました。確かに内容がわかっている人は単語さえ聞き取れれば話の内容は類推できるものです。

私は今の部署には半年前に転勤になり分野も違うため、まだよくわかっていない所があるのです汗。(Let's do No-Excuse living! )

英語ではなく仕事に時間をもっとかける必要があるかもしれません汗。

Although I'm not a big drinker, I can see how the demise of the neighborhood tavern weakens community ties and leads to more personal isolation.

There's more cocooning and less camaraderie.

I didn't realized that so many cherished American institutions were on the endangered list.

I guess the pace of social change is picking up.

There's no denying that, but at the same time some things you might have expected to become passe are still with us.

A decade ago we heard lots of predictions that cellphones would make telephone landlines a thing of the past.

And while it's true there's been a pronounced shift to mobile phone use, the traditional telephone is still very much with us.
