2. 2011年英語学習10大ニュース
第6位の前に、
多読というのが4，5年前から流行ってますね。SSS式というのを私も過去に
やったことがあります。あの方式は100万語を目指しましょうということで、
ペーパーバックの単語数を概算して集計していくのです。私は60万語くらい
までは行きました。
この集計が少し面倒なのですが、このたびAndroid向けに「多読アカデミー」
というアプリが発売になりました。自動的に語数をカウントしてくれて便利です。

第6位 Kindleで洋書を読む時代が来た
今年Kindle WiFI版を買いました。13000円くらいと安価な上に読みやすいE-ink
ディスプレイ、長持ちするバッテリなど、読書に適した携帯機器です。
Kindle版の日本語書籍はまだAmazonからは販売されていませんが、英語書籍の
Kindle版は紙の本より価格も安いです。さらにプロモーション目的なのでしょう、
無料のKindke版書籍もあったりして、洋書好きな方にはよいツールです。
私とは言えば、最初はKindle版の新聞や雑誌の無料購読を2週間ずつするという
せこい技でやっていましたが、いつしか読まなくなっていました。無料の
Kindke版書籍もたんまりと残っています。いくつか有料の本も買いましたが。。
紙の本でさえ読むのが遅く積ん読になる私にとって、Kindkeになったからと言って
読みが進むという事はなさそうです。
電車でもKindleを手にする人はあまり見かけません。新しいKindle fireはいつ日本で
発売されるのでしょう。
もう一つの選択肢、iPadはKindleよりサイズも少し大きいですが、読書に使えますね。
今一番欲しいのは次世代のiPad3です。来年2月という噂も流れていますね。

今回は1つを除いて、単語にチェックが入りました。
こういう日もたまにあります。
Pearsonの、 seem like a cheapstakeに少し引っかかりました。
辞書によると、seem to be a cheapstakeや、
seem a cheapstakeという代わりに、会話では
seem like a cheapstakeとも言うそうです。
Boxing Dayの起源は、英国などで郵便配達人、ごみ清掃員、使用人に
Christman Boxという贈り物をすることから来ています。
スポーツのBoxingではありません。
