今日から12月となり今月で今年も終わり。。。
そこで、2011年英語学習10大ニュースを開催します。

今年は色々な学習ツールが出てきたと思います。
個人的にはiPhone, TED, twitter, Skype英会話、
グロービッシュやSmart.fm(iKnow)有料化も話題でした。

皆さんは、どんな教材やツールを今年使いましたか?
英語学習の上で新しい事は今年何かありましたか?

2.英語に関するあれこれ

「電車の中や店内で見かける英語で書かれた注意書きって、変な英語がたまにあります」

を翻訳してみましょう。前回は、Googel翻訳で以下の英文までできました。

Sometimes there are funny English notes in the train and in-store.

次にこの英文をGoogleを使って洗練させていきましょう。まずは「注意書き」が
noteでいいのか気になります。

Googel翻訳の画面で、英語訳のnoteをクリックすると類義語一覧が表示されます。

その中にnoticeがあります。そこでnoteとnoticeを画像検索してみると、
noticeのほうが注意書きの画像が出てくるので、よさそうだとわかります。

次に、"there are funny English notices"と、フレーズ検索するとそのまま
ずばりの検索結果はありませんが、
Funny English noticesや、Funn English Signsは使われていることがわかります。

また、notices in trainsや、notices in sotresはたくさんヒットします。
そこで、funny English notices in trains and stores とすればよさそうです。

しかし、there areとはつながらないようです。そこで、I findを使ってみましょう。
I find notices という表現はまあまあヒットするのでよしとしましょう。

最終的に次のようになりました。

I sometimes find funny English notices in trains and stores.

どうでしょ?

今回のDiazの発言で、電話にはあらかじめメールによる予約が必要、という
下りはアメリカの現実なのでしょうか?

以前は会社で個人のボイスメールが流行っていたと思いますが。
それもメールに取って代わられたのでしょうか。
