1.身の回りのことなど


11/5に、Podcast Award 2011というイベントを見に、銀座のApple Storeに

行きました。

これはApple製品を中心とするIT系のPodcast番組が大集合するというイベントで

した。私はその中の一つの番組(唯一のWindows系番組)を聴いていたのですが、

他にもApple関係の番組がたくさんあることに驚きました。podcasterの皆さんは

素人でユーザの立場で番組を作っているのです。


会場は立ち見も出るほどで超満員の入りでした。私も二時間立ちっぱなしで疲れ

ましたね。


後で、他のApple関係の番組を聴き始めましたが、製品情報などを解説してくれる

ので役に立ちますね。


英語関連のpodcastもたくさんありますが、英語の先生による番組がほとんどで、

素人の番組はあまり見かけませんね。


実践ビジネス英語を骨までしゃぶるpodcast、誰かやってくれませんかね?

2.英語に関するあれこれ


Stanford大学が、3つの授業をオンラインで解放しています。世界中から多くの

受講生が授業をオンラインで取っているようです。宿題もあるようです。


公開授業は機械学習、データベース入門、人工知能の紹介の3つです。

My aim is to go in, buy what's on my shopping list and get out with my

wallet more or less intact.


Even though the recession is technically over, and the economy is growing,

albeit in fits and starts, these changes seem to have taken hold, maybe

for good.


Another example of how the Great Recession has changed consumer

behavior is the return of lawaway.


That frugal approach may outlast a full recovery and the return of easy

credit.

If something happens or is done in fits and starts, it does not happen

continuously, but regularly stops and then starts again.


ex) Denise's career plans can only proceed in fits and starts.

If something takes hold, it gains complete control or influence over

予約割賦購入とは、代金を月賦で払い終わるまで店が品物を持っている方式、

だそうです。

ex) These naturally dried flowers will outlast a bouquet of fresh blooms.
