攻略!英語リスニングの放送で柴原智幸先生がこんなことを

おっしゃっていました。


リスニングの勉強はつい自分に言い訳をしてさぼってしまうことがある。

今やらなくても、後で困るのは自分なのだからいいだろう、など。


でも、自分が勉強しないと他人が困ってしまう場合はどうでしょうか。


今自分は他人のために通訳をしているとする。

自分がちゃんと聞き取れないと他人に迷惑をかけてしまう。


このような状況ではちゃんとビジュアライズをしよう、という気に

なるというもの。



つまり、誰かのために今、英語を勉強しているという状況を作る、

あるいは、そう思い込む、ということがポイントなのでしょう。

who aren't quite ready to step up the plate can become

good managers later in their careers.

for the happiness and welfare of other people rather than

for yourself.

It's not the end of the world. 世界の終わりというわけでは

ない。そんなに重大な[ひどい]ことではない。

You can say 'it's not the end of the world' when something

bad happens, in order to console yourself or another

person by suggesting that the consequences of the event

are not as bad as they might seem at first.


ex) If I make a mistake, it's not the end of the world.

I can always go back and correct it.

If someone steps up to the plate, they do or say something
