hold onの反対はgive upです。

ex) The thought depressed her violently. But she held on.

If you are shy of doing something, you are unwillingly to do
it because you are afraid of what might happen.

ex) You should not be shy of having your say in the running

If you haggle, you argue about something before reaching
an agreement, especially about the cost of something that
you are buying.
