英語耳ならぬ、日本語耳をたった14か月の赤ちゃんが獲得
していたという研究成果が理化学研究所から発表されました。
日本語は、子音＋母音という音韻体系なので、
子音が続く音に対して、日本人は自動的に母音を挿入して
聞いているそうです。
これをこの研究では日本語耳と読んでいます。
まだ文字を知らない14か月の赤ちゃんがすでにこの日本語耳を
持っていることが実験の結果わかったのです。
理研ら、日本人が英語の発音や聞き分けが苦手な原因の一端を解明
我々が英語が聞き取れないのは生後14か月に決まっていたのか！
と、がっくりとくる結果ですね。
