Well, today's graduates are going to need all the motivation
they can muster to survive in this ultra-competitive job market.
Yes, with the economy bogged down in a recession and the
unemployment rate higher than it's been in decades, many
new graduates are finding their job searches are longer
and more difficult than they'd expected.
Blackwood didn't pull any punches in describing the challenges
graduates face in landing a job nowadays.
But his basic message was optimistic and upbeat.
All of them were masters of the art of public speaking, and
used well-chosen stories and anecdotes to drive home their
messages.

If you muster something such as support, strength, or
energy, you gather as much of it as you can in order to
do something.
ex) He travelled around West Africa trying to muster support
for his movement.
手元の英英辞典にはmusterの意味として、奮い起こす、というのは
のっていませんでした。この、gather(集める)という意味は、今回
のビニエットに適用しても通じるのではないでしょうか。

they are criticizing a person or thing, you mean that
they say exactly what they think, even though this might

If people or their opinions are upbeat, they are cheerful
