Signs of Recovery (2) 4/15 2010

the run-up to the recessionがsawしたということでしょうね。

hordes of
soup kitchen
was supposed to
outward sign
WYSIWYG
half-expect to

Home sales are rising in many parts of the country,
and the stock market has rallied.

It seems the negative effects of the recession
aren't a one-off, temporary blip.

Well, the run-up to the recession saw many consumers
dig themselves into a debt hole from which there's
no quick and easy way out.

Home sales are rising in many parts of the country,
and the stock market has rallied.

It seems the negative effects of the recession
aren't a one-off, temporary blip.

Well, the run-up to the recession saw many consumers
dig themselves into a debt hole from which there's
no quick and easy way out.

hordes of, 大勢の

After reading lots of articles about the harsh effects of
the recession, I half-expected to see soup kichens and
hordes of homeless people on the streets.

Japan has been hit pretty hard by the economic downturn, but
the U.S. was supposed to be doing even worse.

What you see may not be what you get.
