a greatest-hits CD by one of her favorite artists for her birthday,
only to discover that the store had closed for good.
The fact that you used the antiquated tern "record store,"
which dates from the good old days of LPs, tells me you don't
shop for music much, Tony.
Whatever you want to call it, music retailers are classic examples
of businesses at a crossroads.
Yes, they're closing in record numbers, so to speak, as more and
more people get their music online - legally or illegally - and
"big box" retail chains undercut specialty stores by offering
chart-topping CDs at low prices.
