英語の勉強もある程度進むと、あとは英単語を覚えるくらいしか
やることがなくなるといわれています。

英単語はすごくたくさんありますからね。

英検やTOEIC対策としても英単語を暗記するのは重要です。

先日、NHK「プロフェッショナル仕事の流儀」で茂木健一郎さん
が茂木流の英単語の覚え方を紹介していました。

単語を読みながら書きながら必死に覚えるというやり方だった
ように思います。

あれは五感を使って集中して行うということがポイントなんだろうと
思います。



ほかにも面白い暗記法を見つけましたので紹介します。

1枚の紙を8つに折りたたんで英語と日本語を書き、パタパタ言わせながら
フラッシュカードのように単語を覚えていくというものです。

私もビジ英のワンレッスン分で作ってみました。
なかなかのアナログ感です。

laugh [work/etc.] one's butt off 大笑いする[がむしゃらに働く]

「尻がなくなるまで~する」という発想。work one's butt offは,
当然期待してもよい結果や人からの感謝が得られない場合によく使う。

Why should I work my butt off when nobody else does?
ほかの連中はだれもそうしていないのに,なぜぼくが身を粉にして
働かなくちゃいけないんだ?

be on top of something, (仕事など) をうまく処理している

If you are on top of a task or situation, you are dealing
with it successfully. If you are beginning to deal with it
successfully, you can say that you are getting on top of it.
