新年あけましておめでとうございます。
新年の朝は音読で始めました。今年はいいスタートが切れそうです。
初詣では英語がペラペラになりますようにとお願いをしました。
さて、前回質問させていただいた件、掲示板にて解決しました。
質問したのは以下の部分。

このto不定詞は形容詞的用法なのですね。
英文を正しく解釈するには英文法力が欠かせないことを再認識しました。すでに文法の復習を年末から再開していますが、意を強くしました。
今年もこの二冊で復習します。

ビニエットの中身を見ていきます。
Table for One (1)では、最下行のoppositeは前置詞で～の向かい側に、という意味なのですね。前置詞としてのoppositeは初めて見ました。
(3)では、下から5行目の、make those dining alone feel welcomeで「一人客に歓迎されていると感じさせる」という意味ですが、welcomeは形容詞で「歓迎されている」という意味なのですね。一瞬、welcomedでなくていいのかなと思い辞書を引いてしまいました。
