)、Yahoo!知恵袋でも回答が得られませんでしたので、こちらでお聞きします。
Embracing Sustainability (4)の(テキスト22ページ上から5行目) a chance to raise funds は、宿泊客がホテルのロイヤルティポイントを使って募金できるサービスということと理解しました。
しかし、テキストの和訳では「資金を募る機会をお客に提供していました」とあります。
a chance to raise fundsは「資金を調達する機会」という意味ですよね。
ただ、raise fundsに募金するという意味があると英辞郎にはあります。しかし、ここが「募金する」という意味の場合でも、テキストの和訳である
「資金を募る機会をお客に提供していました」とは合致しません。
テキストの和訳の「資金を募る機会をお客に提供していいました」も、よく読むと意味が分かりません。募金活動を宿泊客が主催するような意味にしか思えてなりません。
あるいはa chance to raise fundsを「資金調達に参画する機会」と捉えるべきでしょうか。
