Hoarding sometimes creates strained family ties when grandkids aren't allowed to visit their hoarding grandparents.

One simple answer is the four D's: death, divorce, disaster and dislocation, as in a new job or getting married.

It sounds like the logical result of consumerism as well.

We're conned into thinking that having more material possessions is the way to achieve happiness.

People can trip and fall over clutter.

Some people have the opposite problem: obsessive decluttering.

A few year ago, my uncle started throwing out just about everything in his house that wasn't tied down, including various family heirlooms.

Managing all those files can put a dent in my productivity.

I often find myself checking out, or "snack on" new information.

★dislocation, 位置の変わった状態、混乱、転位

One simple answer is the four D's: death, divorce, disaster and dislocation, as in a new job or getting married.

dislocate は、脱臼させる、脱臼する でもあります。

★consumerism, 大量消費、消費主義

It sounds like the logical result of consumerism as well.



★be conned into, だまされて...をする

We're conned into thinking that having more material possessions is the way to achieve happiness.




★trip, つまずく、踏み外す

People can trip and fall over clutter.



★decluttering, 不要なモノをすてること、整理整頓

Some people have the opposite problem: obsessive decluttering.
