1.身の回りのこと

大戸屋のさんま定食が美味しくて3日連続で通っています。以前はさんまの内臓は苦くて食べられなかったのですが、今年の大戸屋のさんまは頭と骨と尾以外はきれいに食べることができます。しっかりと熱を加えているからでしょう。

音読マラソンが30日を達成しました。「自分へのご褒美」として今日はWさんま定食、つまり2尾にしてみました。大満足なのでした。

2. 英語に関するあれこれ

前回、ネイティブ信仰について触れました。しかし、今や英語は非ネイティブが主流の時代です。

そこで「インド英語のリスニング」という本を読みました。インド英語はネイティブも理解できないことがあるとも聞きます。

この本によると、インド英語とは発音に特徴があるそうで、アクセントの位置も違うことがあるそうです。発音ができなくて、よくネイティブの英語を聞き取れるものだと不思議だったのですが、本書によると、インド人は聞き取り力が優れているから、とのことです。そう言われては身もふたもありません。

文法にも特徴があります。例えば、

冠詞の省略
可算名詞と不可算名詞の混同
自動詞の他動詞への転用
時制、態、相の違い
語順の違い
3人称単数現在の無視
繰り替えしによる強調
シンプルでぶっきらぼうな表現を多用
動名詞を不定詞にする
yesとnoは日本語の「はい」「いいえ」と同じ

ここまで来れば、よく言えば独特、悪く言えば文法無視といえます。日本人が間違えそうな文法も「インド英語」で通用してしまうのは人口が桁違いに多いためでしょうか。

ヒンディー語を英語にちょいちょい交ぜて使うのも普通のようです。

Some new research even shows that there may be benefits to packing a few extra pounds.

ex) Loss of oestrogen is associated with an increased risk of osteoporosis and coronary artery disease.

★vanity factor, 見え[見かけ、虚栄心]の要素

vanity
