ともちん英語とかじゃなく、本物の英語の話をしましょう。
iPhoneのpodcastでTED(video)を見ていたのですがたまたま面白いのに当たりま
した。
Richard Wilkinson: How economic inequality harms societies
です。
世界各国の一人あたりの収入と、様々な指標、例えば平均年齢、子供の健康、
成人病、犯罪率は相関がないというのです。
関係があるのは、国民の収入の差の大きさです。
金持ちと貧乏の差が大きいアメリカやシンガポールは
いろいろな面で問題がある社会であるというグラフが出てきます。
逆に日本は北欧諸国と共に収入格差が小さい国ですが、
これらの指標が非常にいいのです。
重要なのは収入ではなく収入格差だというのです。
このpodcast大戸屋で見ていたのですが、面白いなあ、今度のメルマガのネタ
にしようと思い、店を出るときに会計でおつりを受け取るとき、バイトの
女の子につい、
Thank you.
と言いそうになりました。
