限らないということをご存知でしょうか。
Mark and Hardy were alone in the eating area.
マークとハーディは待合室で二人きりだった。
alone withという形もあるようです。
My brother and I were alone with Vincent.
全くの一人きりの場合は、all alone, completely alone,
entirely alone などというようです。
このことは、「英語語法ライブラリ ペーパーバックが
教えてくれた 柏野健次著」を読んで知りました。
この本はなかなかいいですね。
ペーパーバックに限らず、英語の本をKindleで読もうとしている
私にとって、多量のreadingから英語感覚をつかむことの重要性
を再認識しました。

コウビルドによると、請求書の下（foot）にサインする所に
由来するかもしれないということです。

If you dissuade someone from doing or believing something,
you persuade them not to do or believe it. [FORMAL]
ex) Doctors had tried to dissuade patients from smoking.
dissuadeとpersuadeは形も似ています。
説得するとしてはconvinceもありますが、こちらは
何かが正しいことを説得する、という意味とありました。
