最初に習った英語が This is a pen.
だった人が、今思うことは、おそらく
「これはペンです」なんて英語、当たり前すぎて
誰も使わないよ！ というものかもしれません。
私も長年そう、思ってきました。
しかし、先日、映画アバターを見た際の、別の映画の
予告編で、This is a pen. というセリフがあったのです。
魔法の道具を渡された少年が
「これはただのペンにすぎないよ！」
と叫んでいました。
なるほど、This is a pen. にも、こういう使い方が
あったのですね。
