I have a couple of friends who are college professors,
and they say the trend in academia is to de-emphasize
the role of standardized tests and put more weight on
interviews and recommendations.
They also say more emphasis is put on deterring cheating,
as opposed to trying to catch students in the act.
Another relevant point here is that it's not just lazy
and amoral students who are to blame for this problem.
The severity of punishments can vary dramatically from
expulsion to a lower grade.
