今回のビニエットは、無料のオンラインニュースサイトの
登場で、紙の新聞の売り上げが減っていて大変だ、という
話でしたね。
人間は無料というものに強く惹かれるのでしょうか。
今読んでいる、「フリー〈無料〉からお金を生みだす新戦略」
（日本放送出版協会）に次のような話がありました。
高級チョコレートを原価割れの15セントでと、
やっすいチョコを1セントでの
どちらを買うかと実験したら、多くの人は高級チョコが
15セントならこちらが得だという選択をしました。
次に、1セントずつ値下げして、高級チョコを14セント、
やっすいチョコを0セント、つまり、ただにしました。
そうすると、ただのチョコのほうが人気が出たそうです。
両者の差は14セントで変わっていません。
これはどうしたことでしょうか。
本によると、これは無料というのものが人間に与える
心理的影響だそうです。
例えば、無料の商品と、1セントの商品は、わずか1セント
の違いしかありませんが、消費者にとっては大きな違いであり、
無料の商品が爆発的に広がるそうです。
無料のものに私達は我を忘れて群がるのでしょうね。
そういえばこのメルマガも無料ですね。
購読料を1回1円にしたら、読者は激減するのでしょうね。。
