Some pet owners - ah, pet parents - spend thousands of dollars on
collars, leashes, pearl necklaces and other accessories made by
fashion houses for their pets.

There was a Pet Fashion Week in New York recently at which people
could browse through selections of sweaters and raincoats for their pets.

Wow, that's amazing, especially when there's an ongoing debate about
how to pay for the ballooning cost of healthcare for humans.

Yes, too many people just see a cute animal in a pet store and buy it
on impulse, without realizing the kind of commitment that's needed
to develop a healthy relationship with a pet.

このcommitmentがむずかしい。

Unfortunately, we're also hearing more and more horror stories about
people leaving their pets behind when they're no longer the cute little
creature they first fell for.
