記念すべき「杉田敏の現代ビジネス英語」の一回目です。
皆さん新しいテキストはいかがでしたか。
ビニエットはいつも通りの雰囲気でした。
4月なので語彙は優しめでした。
Latinx, BIPOCなど見慣れぬ言葉もありました。
テキストが大型化したのはいいのですが、ラジオのようにテキスト以外の解説がないので、余白に書くことがないという。。。無駄に大型化した気もしなくもなくなくないという。。。
(6)の穴埋め問題は、意外と覚えていないものだなということを実感できました。杉田先生とヘザーさんの対話がなくなったのは残念です。

★Latinx, ラティネクス（ラテンアメリカ諸国にルーツを持つアメリカ在住の人）
Do you consider yourself a Hispanic or a Latino? - You might say I'm a Latinx.
手元の電子辞書にはLatinxは載っていませんので新しい言葉ですね。
私の例文です。
Latinx is a gender-neutral term for Latino and Latina.
次の記事によれば、一般のヒスパニックの人の中ではLatinxはそれほど広まっていないです。Latinxの最後のxはスペイン語では発音しにくく、代わりにLatineも使われているそうです。
'Latinx' hasn't even caught on among Latinos. It never will.

★BIPOC, バイポック（Black, Indigenous and people of colorの頭字語）
You can say Black American or African American. Recently, a more inclusive term has been used: BIPOC.
BIPOCは初めて聞きました。People of colorは白人以外という意味で、アジア人も含むと、以下のサイトで説明されています。
